Design of week on fabbaloo.com — the sculpture «At Icarus was the sister»
This week the beautiful model «At Icarus became the winner on fabbaloo.com there was a sister» from designers of Masters & Munn which are better known as Andre Masters and his partner Sidzhey Mann. The choice is absolutely clear, after all this creation is direct helped pair to win «Rising Star» merit on Global 3D Print Awards within 2013 3D Printshow.
Work is not completely 3D printing. It is a hybrid from steel, quartz, copper, iron, slate, pitch and, naturally, 3D printing layers from the material Objet VeroClear in width of 30 microns.
Masters & Munn say:
«A hybrid ordinary the technician of creation of a sculpture with innovative technologies of digital modeling and 3D the press, made on purpose to inspire other ordinary painters to start to use the latest technology in the work instead of being careful of it; to create beautiful and quivering things which was earlier unreal to build in the real world, to continue to be trained and develop, to keep up to date».
Work quite big, in size with the person. It consists of 2 parts – bottom from their it is pair the foot, represented in small details.
Top 3D the printing part of work represents wings with a set of feathers, this part covered with a patina of color of copper. Interestingly that these unique "lines" in feathers 3D were not simulated; them simply put manually on the termination 3D the press.
Body (and separate feet) are made on real molds of model Luis Benks – they were made of brilliant quartz 9 years ago. But what this work means? By words Marstersa:
«It is a minimalist form specifies fragility of a female form – and to a descent force to make the 1st flight. Somewhat, it symbolizes 3D the press for this day; she costs on the brink of an abyss, ready to make a jump in the future».
